Chapter 2 continues. With the incredible opening chapter of the book, to the introduction of chapter 2… I now give you the story of Caprius Seaton and Melina Hampshire. A relationship that is destined to be quite rocky and rough around the edges. Lets see how our couple is about to play out in their meeting…
A gentle breeze blew through the air, and as Melina Hampshire sat on a park bench writing on a pad of paper, she expressed her thoughts about relationships and the pirate to take the woman away on a long journey. “She had been banished from her home; to find her self in unfamiliar territory. But she was not alone. For the pirate which had won her heart, promised her a life beyond her wildest dreams. It was what she had hoped for But in her heart, she still trembled with fear knowing that he may one day…” And as Melina wrote these words on paper, the wind became a gust and blew her papers into the air. The papers blew and she screamed in anger. She was upset. She was beginning to get into her writing and lost her train of thoughts. As she looked over, there stood a man picking up her papers. He slowly walked over to her. He couldn’t help to read what she had written.
“She had been banished from her home; to find herself in unfamiliar territory. But she was not alone. For the pirate which had won her heart, promised her a life beyond her wildest dreams. It was what she had hoped for. But in her heart, she still trembled with fear knowing that he may one day…’ and what follows this Melina?” He sat down beside her. “This sounds rather familiar. Rekindling the past,” he said.
“Caprius Seaton. You shouldn’t be reading my thoughts,” said Melina.
“I wouldn’t call them thoughts. For a thought is in one’s mind, and stays there. When a thought be of something you want to say and is written down or spoken, it is no longer a thought, but articulate piece of literature or a direct comment of how one feels,” stated Caprius.
Melina Grinned warmly. “You always were one with words Caprius Seaton. Incidentally, they are words of what she has come to understand. The way things are for her.”
“Yes but you wrote she trembles in fear. Fear of what Melina? Of being alone?’ he asked. “What is it that you are writing?”
“If you must know, I’m writing a book,” she said. “And if you must know, I am seeing someone.” She crossed her arms. She looked at him sternly.
“Really? Then what is his name?” he asked.
She looked away up into the sky; still crossing her arms. “I’m not telling.”
“He wouldn’t be Fenison Torington, would he?”
“Certainly not. And certainly…. Not… you.”
“Is it my face? Have the locusts hidden my true identity”
“It isn’t your face Caprius. I know you’re hurting. But I hurt as well.”
They sat silently. She looked down holding her hands. “You’re not seeing anyone; are you?”
“No I am not. I was with that Barrington guy. Then there was Mallory. Oh and Kenny and Brad. Brad was not too bad. And Kenny; well he just went yapping away.”
“So you’re in conflict with intelligence and stamina,” replied Caprius.
“A good man should have two parts intellect and one part stamina,” she said.
“Melina your slowing down. Sexual pleasure was Fenisons strong quality. I was more on words of wisdom and a good book; with a desire for love of that of a stallion. You leaned on me. Your innuendos got my attention.”
“Love is a two way street. You took the wrong path,” said Melina.
“Melina, Fenison Torington is gone. He has gone far away. He can never come between us any more. What I did was get in touch with him to put all this to rest. Nothing more. It was closier.”
Melina gave him a warm smile. She wanted to believe him. She saw how much he wanted her back. “The cascading river of Molbivena flows rapid. The waters flow never stops. So do the broken promises of our friends.”
“Melina,” he said sadly.
“You and Fenison both; so many lies spun. Playing with my mind. You say one thing; but it changes. Then you try to win my heart again. And the foolish school girl that I was, I said yes. And I believed you. I was young and naïve. I didn’t know any better. Both of you had your way with me.” She looked at him intently. “But I have grown. And I cover my eyes and ears.” She puckered her lips then spoke. “Those were precious times to me. There was the good, and the bad. But it was those bad times that really sets my mind on fire. And I don’t know if there is a wind strong enough to blow away the high flames of past.
Caprius held her papers in one hand and put his other hands on her hands. “Things happen. People can change. Give me another chance Melina.”
She looked at him with puppy eyes. They stared into each other’s eyes intensively. “I would like to believe you Caprius Seaton. But I’ve been hurt too many times. Caprius handed her the papers. Melina got off the bench. “Good day Caprius.” She began to walk away. She looked back at him, throwing him a kiss.
“Innuendos,” he said. “There is hope after all.” He sat back with a slight warm smile.
Well, the couple is reunited. Or are they. At the end of the chapter, what did Melina mean by throwing Caprius a kiss? Is this a promise of something for to come? Or, was that a farewell kiss. Meaning good-bye is forever. Well… we’ll just have to see how this plays out.
